2024: Cross River to Host NWFL Championship, Competition Gets Kick-off Date
The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has announced that Cross River State will host the 2023/2024 NWFL Championship, scheduled from August 31 to September 8, 2024, in Calabar. This second division Championship follows the successful NWFL Premiership Super Six finals hosted by Bayelsa State in June.
According to the league’s Media Director, Samuel Ahmadu, and NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, the event will feature over 17 registered clubs divided into four groups. The Championship’s structured schedule includes rest days and multiple matchdays, culminating in the final day on September 8, which will determine promotion and relegation outcomes. The top two teams will advance to the NWFL Premiership, while two teams will be relegated to the third division.
