Benue State ALGON Lauds Governor Alia’s Remarkable Agricultural Initiatives
The Benue State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has voiced its support for Governor Fr. Hyacinth Alia’s agricultural policies aimed at enhancing food security in the state.
In a recent workshop facilitated by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) and SEGNIP Promotions in Abuja, ALGON applauded Governor Alia’s commitment to ensuring food sufficiency through subsidies on fertilizers, provision of farming inputs, and encouragement of loan schemes for small-scale businesses.
The resolution, signed by ALGON’s state chapter, highlighted the state’s efforts to maintain its title as the ‘food basket of the nation,’ emphasizing the increase in crop production despite challenges such as insecurity and economic hardships. ALGON also commended the governor’s initiatives to protect farmers and called for federal support in areas such as food storage facilities and provision of high-yielding seed crops.
