Benue State Commemorates 2024 World Humanitarian Day
In recognition of the 2024 World Humanitarian Day, the Benue State Government, alongside humanitarian organizations, gathered at the State House of Assembly to advocate for greater support for internally displaced persons (IDPs) throughout the state. The event underscored the vital role of humanitarian aid and called for the implementation of policies that focus on long-term solutions to displacement challenges. With Benue State being a region significantly affected by displacement, the commemoration aimed to raise awareness of the plight of the displaced and to encourage stronger government intervention in alleviating their suffering. Governor Hyacinth Alia emphasized the state’s commitment to working with humanitarian agencies to develop sustainable strategies for restoring the dignity and livelihoods of displaced persons.
