Borno Government Relaxes 24-Hour Curfew for Friday Prayers
The Borno State Government has temporarily relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state, allowing Muslim faithful to observe their Friday congregational prayers. The curfew, initially imposed due to the security situation, will be lifted between 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm on Friday.
State Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar, announced that while the curfew is indefinite, this brief relaxation aims to enable the Muslim community to perform their religious duties. He emphasized that the curfew will be reinstated after 3:00 pm and will be reviewed as the security situation improves.
The statement highlighted the importance of compliance, noting that security operatives have been deployed to critical locations to enforce the curfew. Violators will face strict legal consequences. The curfew was imposed by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum following a bomb blast in the Kawori area on Wednesday, aiming to restore law and order in the state.
