Borno State Partners with Peace Ambassadors for Peacebuilding
Borno State has strengthened its commitment to peacebuilding through a strategic partnership with the Peace Ambassadors Centre for Humanitarian Aid and Empowerment (PACHE). On August 12, 2024, a delegation of Youth Peace Advocates, mentored by PACHE, visited the Borno State Ministry of Information and Internal Security to present their six-month progress report and explore further collaboration opportunities.
Led by PACHE President Ambassador Ahmed Shehu, the Youth Peace Advocates shared their achievements in various community engagements, including climate action initiatives, humanitarian support, and conflict resolution. Notable activities included participation in the Borno State Climate Action Plan and tree-planting campaigns, as well as engagement with low-risk repentant insurgents at the Maiduguri Social Orientation Camp. The Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to partnering with organizations like PACHE to build peace and stability in the region. He praised PACHE’s efforts in complementing the government’s initiatives and granted approval for a youth-focused radio program on Dandal Kura Radio Maiduguri. This partnership highlights the significant role of youth and community engagement in peacebuilding efforts in Borno State.
