Borno State Pensioners Laud Governor Zulum’s Welfare Initiatives
The National Union of Pensioners (NUP) in Borno State has commended Governor Babagana Zulum for prioritizing the welfare of retirees despite significant expenditures on security. During a meeting with executives from 30 branches, including those from the 27 local government areas, NUP Chairman Musa Alhaji Bukar highlighted Governor Zulum’s efforts in promptly paying pensions, salaries, and gratuities. The union praised the governor’s decision to increase the monthly fund for outstanding gratuities, which has improved the lives of retirees and contributed to economic development. Governor Zulum’s initiatives include paying pension arrears, settling gratuities for local government retirees, and ensuring timely payments without delay. The NUP urged other state governors to emulate Zulum’s commitment to addressing the welfare needs of citizens and fostering unity among retirees.
