Borno: Zulum Empowers Orphaned Youths
Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has empowered 832 artisans, most of whom were orphaned youths, and offered employment to 64 of them. The empowerment initiative was announced during the graduation ceremony held at the Muna Vocational Enterprise Institute in Jere Local Government Area. The 64 individuals who excelled in their assessments at the Borno State Enterprise Institute were selected for employment across various vocational institutes in the state. Governor Zulum emphasized the importance of youth empowerment, especially in light of the challenges posed by insurgency in the region. He commended the graduating artisans and reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing opportunities for sustainable livelihoods. The artisans were trained in various trades, including aluminum fabrication, bricklaying, carpentry, information technology, barbing, electrical work, leatherworks, plumbing, mechanics, solar technology, tailoring, tie and dye, welding, and hairdressing. Each graduate received starter kits and financial support to kickstart their businesses.
