Capacity Building: Canadian University Trains Lagos Internal Auditors
The Office of Internal Auditor in Lagos State has collaborated with the University of Calgary, Canada, to conduct a five-day training for selected Internal Auditors. The training, titled “Revenue Systems Audit Champions,” aims to enhance the skills and capacity of auditors in the electronic revenue collection and revenue management domain. The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Internal Audit, Dr. Oyeyemi Ayoola, highlighted the importance of expanding non-tax internally generated revenue to achieve the state’s developmental agenda. The training focuses on advanced systems revenue auditing techniques, emphasizing non-tax revenue collection cycles. The collaboration with the University of Calgary is seen as an opportunity for knowledge exchange and leveraging international expertise to maximize revenue potential.
