Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, emphasized the crucial role that the capital market plays in driving the economic progress and development initiatives within the state. He also highlighted the inherent relationship between Lagos State and the capital market during the 3rd biennial West Africa Capital Markets Conference (WACMaC). The conference gathered market operators in Lagos to address the region’s infrastructure deficit and explore solutions.
Sponsored by Coronation Group, the event served as a significant platform for capital market experts to discuss infrastructure financing in the region. Themed ‘Infrastructural deficit and sustainable financing in an integrated West Africa Capital Market,’ WACMaC 2023 aimed to tackle financing gaps and establish effective mechanisms for sustainable infrastructure development and economic growth across the continent. The conference was organized by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Nigeria, Securities and Exchange Commission Ghana, and the Association of the Management of Financial Institutions in Africa, in collaboration with other securities regulators’ associations.
