Concerned Lekki Residents Commend Removal of Illegal Inner Gates
A group representing concerned residents in Lekki Phase One lauded the Lagos State Government’s initiative to eliminate illegal inner street gates, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion in the area. Led by Prince Ayoola Ojeikere, the group expressed satisfaction with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s decision, long overdue but crucial in easing access within the community.
The group spokesperson highlighted the indiscriminate erection of gates by certain resident associations and influential individuals, hindering road access. Appreciating the government’s intervention, the group emphasized the adverse impact of such blockades on traffic flow and aesthetics in Lekki and its surroundings.
Describing the enforcement as a significant relief for residents and motorists, Ojeikere urged the removal of specific gates, including the one at Admiralty Road by Fatayi Arobieke Street, to facilitate smoother traffic movement and restore the freedom of movement along public roads.
The group advocated for the cessation of gate construction on government roads and the issuance of access codes, asserting these actions as essential to uphold residents’ rights to unimpeded movement and preserve the aesthetic appeal of the Lekki area.
