Cross River Embarks on 50,000 Hectares Rice Cultivation Project

Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has announced plans to cultivate 50,000 hectares of rice across the state’s three senatorial districts to bolster food security.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of a rice plantation project in Ogoja local government area, Governor Otu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to agricultural revitalization.

He pledged collaboration with farmers and the private sector to maximize productivity, emphasizing the government’s plan to provide farmers with N150 million in funding.

Governor Otu assured farmers of support without land acquisition intentions, focusing on rice, maize, and cassava cultivation for local consumption and export. He emphasized the importance of partnership with farmers to ensure their needs are met and productivity enhanced.
