Cross River Government Rectifies Cocoa Estate Oversight
The Cross River State Government has corrected an oversight regarding a disputed 32 hectares of cocoa plots at Abonita Cocoa Estate. The government, in a letter dated 17 January 2024, withdrew the plots ceded in error to Ogar Assam’s family, recognizing that they belong to the state.
The decision followed a reassessment of information, acknowledging the mistake made in the initial ceding process. The government reaffirmed its commitment to resolving disputes amicably and ensuring that resources are utilized appropriately for the benefit of the state.
