In a positive turn of events, Cross River State’s Head of Service, Innocent Eteng, announced that nine Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) have diligently adhered to the directive regarding salary submissions, ensuring timely payment at the end of March. This proactive measure comes in response to the state governor’s commitment to cleanse the civil service of ghost workers and streamline monthly wages, a move applauded by many.

Addressing the issue of bloated wage bills, Eteng emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability, highlighting the extensive verification exercise conducted in collaboration with the new accountant-general, Dr. Glory Effiong. Despite initial challenges, the reconciliation process has seen significant progress, with nine compliant MDAs already benefiting from the streamlined approach.
