Cross River State Government Commissions New SeaExpress Transit Boat
The Cross River State Government, in collaboration with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and other partners, commissioned a new boat, MF Michael Eja-iya, in Calabar. The boat, operated by SeaExpress Transit, aims to enhance transportation between Cross River and Akwa Ibom State. Representing Governor Senator Bassey Otu at the commissioning, Deputy Governor Rt. Honorable Peter Odey highlighted the government’s commitment to leveraging the maritime sector for economic development. He assured stakeholders of the government’s support in protecting and promoting maritime businesses in the state. Thompson Eja, Chairman of SeaExpress Transit, expressed gratitude for the government’s support and pledged to create job opportunities in the maritime sector. Commissioner for Transport Pastor Ekpenyong Cobham commended the initiative, emphasizing its potential to boost the state’s economy. NIWA Area Manager Engineer Stanley Onuoha praised the partnership and urged the state government to provide necessary support for the smooth operation of SeaExpress Transit.
