Cross River State Launches Anti-Quackery Taskforce to Safeguard Health Standards
In a proactive move to uphold the integrity of healthcare services, the Cross River State Government inaugurated the Anti-Quackery Taskforce, charged with curbing all forms of malpractice within the health sector. Led by Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, the 30-member committee will combat the proliferation of unauthorized medical practices and training institutions across the state.
Dr. Ayuk, expressing concern over the prevalence of unregulated health services and mortuaries, emphasized the need to address these issues promptly. Under Governor Bassey Otu’s directive, the taskforce is mandated to crack down on offenders without bias, ensuring accountability and adherence to standard operating procedures in both public and private healthcare sectors.
The committee, comprising members from various backgrounds including security agencies and legal experts, will collaborate with regulatory bodies to enforce compliance and safeguard public health interests. With Dr. Dan Abubakar appointed as State Coordinator, the taskforce pledges to execute its duties diligently for the benefit of all residents.
