Cross River Tourism Bureau Focuses on Harmonizing Taxes and Strengthening Private Sector
The Managing Director of the Cross River State Tourism Bureau, Mr. Ojoi Ekpenyong, has unveiled plans to collaborate with the State’s Internal Revenue Service and other stakeholders to streamline taxations in the tourism sector. During a stakeholder’s meeting, Ekpenyong emphasized the importance of supporting the private sector, as it directly impacts the Bureau’s success.
He mentioned efforts to stay updated with developments in the hospitality industry and to enhance regulations to accommodate continuous growth. The Bureau ensures that facilities in the sector meet quality standards. Additionally, the issue of multiple taxation was addressed, with plans to harmonize and simplify the taxation process. The Governor’s support and grants aimed at boosting the tourism industry were also discussed, with an emphasis on assisting smaller hotels.
The Chairman of the Cross River State Hoteliers Association, Mr. Charles Ogar, commended the MD for quick improvements in the sector and called for unity between regulators and practitioners for the benefit of the tourism industry.
