Ebonyi: Edda Community Celebrates Return of Peace Following Government Intervention
Residents of Edda Local Government Area in Ebonyi State have expressed their delight over the restoration of peace in their community. This positive development follows the establishment of a Caretaker Committee by the state government, which effectively addressed the security challenges that had previously plagued the area.
Chief Samuel Kalu Ama Mba, Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Ekoli Band of Hope, credited Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his wise decision to support the committee. The formation of a youth arm and a vigilante group was instrumental in driving out disruptive elements and restoring tranquility to the community.
Local residents, including those who had been barred from the area for years, now report a sense of freedom and safety. Michael Ibiam Eze, newly appointed electoral committee chairman, expressed his commitment to supporting the caretaker committee and ensuring that peace is maintained. He highlighted the community’s transition from a period of fear and violence to a new era of security and openness.
The collective effort of the community and government has fostered an environment where residents can freely participate in local activities and express themselves without fear.
