Ekiti State Governor Pledges Unwavering Support to Elders’ Welfare and Development
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has reaffirmed his commitment to prioritize the well-being and development of Ekiti elders, assuring them of his administration’s dedication to handing over the Elderly People’s Resort Centre for their enjoyment.
Governor Oyebanji conveyed this assurance during a heartwarming meeting with members of the Ekiti Council of Elders, led by its President, Professor Joseph Oluwasanmi, and Vice President, Chief Deji Fasuan. He commended the elders for their remarkable and impressive contributions during the struggle for the creation of Ekiti State, acknowledging that their sacrifice deserved recognition through unwavering support.
The Governor promised to uphold the strong bond he shares with Ekiti elders by delivering exceptional governance, emphasizing their welfare, and working towards realizing the Ekiti of their dreams in terms of development and growth.
“At this stage of your life, my primary concern is your well-being and happiness. If you have any programs or needs, we will be there to support you. You don’t need to lobby me for that; it’s a son’s responsibility to care for his parents,” Governor Oyebanji affirmed.
He also emphasized his administration’s commitment to delivering uninterrupted power supply in the state. Plans to commission the state’s Independent Power Project (IPP) in a few weeks’ time were disclosed, ensuring that the elderly people’s resort and other facilities benefit from consistent power supply.
The President of the Ekiti Council of Elders, Prof. Joseph Oluwasanmi, highlighted the council’s objectives, including promoting Ekiti values, culture, and unity among its people. He praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his remarkable developmental achievements in the state within his first year in office and pledged continuous support for his endeavors.
Present at the meeting were the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, and other top government officials, underscoring the government’s commitment to collaboration and progress.
