Empowering Communities: Yobe ACReSAL Inaugurates 153 Local Government Project Committees
Yobe State is witnessing a significant step towards community empowerment as the Commissioner for Environment, Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa, inaugurates 153 members of Local Government Project Management Committees (LGPMC) across all 17 local government areas. Comprising heads of relevant departments, traditional and religious representatives, women and youth leaders, and advocates for people with disabilities, these committees are part of the Agro-Climatic in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) initiative. ACReSAL’s state project coordinator, Shehu Alhaji Mohammed, emphasized the importance of community involvement in project execution. Yobe ACReSAL is dedicated to reclaiming 100,000 hectares of degraded land as part of the federal government’s commitment to restoring four million hectares. The leaders in the local councils are encouraged to provide unwavering support to these committees in fulfilling their vital responsibilities. This initiative underscores Yobe State’s commitment to sustainable development and community participation.
