Empowering Female Persons Living With Disabilities Through Food Support Initiative
In a compassionate move, Governor Mai Mala Buni CON has instructed SEMA to extend periodic assistance to Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWD) and other vulnerable groups. Today, on April 21, 2024, a special focus was placed on a group of females living with disabilities in Damaturu LGA, marking a timely intervention during the Lean Season amidst challenging conditions.
The beneficiaries, carefully selected by the Network of PLWDS through their cluster leaders, represent various disability categories, including the blind, physically challenged, deaf, and those with spinal cord injuries. Each recipient received a food basket, with a heartfelt plea to refrain from selling any item provided.
Dr. Goje Mohammed, the Executive Secretary of SEMA, personally delivered the food items, consisting of rice and condiments, to the beneficiaries. He assured them that this initiative, along with others directed by Governor Buni, will persist throughout the state within the confines of available resources. This gesture reflects a commitment to inclusivity and support for those facing unique challenges in society.
