Federal Government and GAVI Seek Collaboration with Sokoto Government on Immunisation
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, along with officials from the Global Alliance Vaccine Initiative (GAVI), recently visited Sokoto State to solicit increased collaboration in improving immunisation activities. Recognizing the critical role of immunisation in disease prevention, the delegation engaged with state government officials and traditional leaders to strengthen partnerships aimed at expanding vaccination coverage.
Prof. Pate underscored the importance of collaboration between the government, traditional institutions, and stakeholders in ensuring the success of immunisation efforts. He highlighted President Bola Tunibu’s Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative and emphasized the need for concerted action to achieve health goals.
Dr. Sania Nishtar, Executive Officer of GAVI, commended Nigeria’s commitment to immunisation and pledged support for advancing health outcomes in the country. She highlighted the pivotal role of traditional rulers in promoting immunisation acceptance and affirmed GAVI’s readiness to collaborate with stakeholders to improve health outcomes.
The Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idris Gobir, and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, expressed their support for immunisation and healthcare programs, affirming the state government’s commitment to facilitating proactive actions in healthcare delivery.
