Gombe State Explores Collaboration with Sterling Bank on Waste Management and Renewable Energy
The Gombe State Commissioner of Water, Environment, and Forest Resources, Mohammed Saidu Fawu, welcomed representatives from Sterling Bank to discuss potential collaborations on waste management and renewable energy. The visit underscores Gombe State’s commitment to environmental sustainability under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who has been recognized for his efforts in promoting green initiatives.
During the meeting, Commissioner Fawu expressed the state government’s strong interest in partnering with Sterling Bank to advance waste recycling and renewable energy projects. He highlighted Gombe State’s achievements in renewable energy, including solar-powered street lights, hospitals, and boreholes, which have contributed to the state’s reputation as one of the cleanest in the country.
Sterling Bank’s representative, Mr. Solomon Samonu, presented the benefits of such a collaboration, including employment generation, pollution reduction, increased income sources, and the enhancement of the state’s landscapes. The Commissioner encouraged the bank to submit a detailed proposal outlining specific areas for collaboration to ensure successful outcomes.
The meeting was attended by key officials from the Ministry, including the Permanent Secretary Danladi Adamu, who welcomed the visitors and emphasized the importance of the proposed partnership. The gathering also included directors from various state agencies, reinforcing Gombe State’s commitment to environmental and economic sustainability through strategic partnerships.
