Gov. Idris Enhances Education with New Vocational Schools and Teacher Recruitment

Governor Dr. Nasir Idris, has inaugurated new vocational schools in Kebbi State and approved the recruitment of 2,000 teachers to bolster educational resources across the state. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Idris emphasized his commitment to improving education.

The new vocational schools, located at Nagari College, Birnin Kebbi, Government Day Secondary School, Ngaski, and Bagudo, were established with federal support. Governor Idris highlighted the urgent need for more teachers, having observed numerous empty classrooms during recent school visits.

The governor has tasked the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education with conducting the recruitment process. He also revealed plans for a second phase of recruitment to further enhance the teacher workforce.

Governor Idris has dedicated significant resources to the education sector, with billions of naira invested over the past year. He underscored the importance of vocational education in equipping youth with practical skills for self-reliance and productivity. The 2024 budget includes provisions for additional vocational schools across the state.

The Federal Government’s role in these developments was acknowledged, with the governor pledging to maintain strong cooperation. The Minister of Education, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, and UBEC Executive Secretary, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, praised Governor Idris for prioritizing education and supporting national educational initiatives.
