Gov. Oyebanji Honors Late Ekiti APC Chairman, Barrister Omotosho, at Burial Ceremony

Ekiti State witnessed a somber yet dignified gathering as political luminaries, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, former Governor Niyi Adebayo, and other notable figures, converged in Imesi Ekiti, Ayekire Local Government Area, to bid farewell to the late Barrister Paul Omotosho, former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.

Amidst heartfelt condolences and reminiscences, Barrister Omotosho, a distinguished former Commissioner and APC stalwart, was laid to rest at his ancestral home along Ikare road in Imesi Ekiti. The burial service, held at Saint James’ Anglican Church, provided a poignant moment for reflection and tribute.

President Tinubu, represented by his Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters, Hon Ibrahim Olanrewaju, lauded Omotosho’s unwavering commitment to Ekiti’s development and his exemplary service to the nation. Governor Oyebanji, in his eulogy, highlighted Omotoso’s remarkable achievements, notably his pivotal role in producing consecutive governors for Ekiti State, a feat etched in the annals of progressive politics.

In a gesture of respect, Governor Oyebanji announced a substantial donation to the church on behalf of the family and additional contributions from distinguished individuals including Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, former Governor Kayode Fayemi, and former Governor Niyi Adebayo. He pledged to immortalize Omotosho’s legacy, ensuring that his contributions to the state endure.

In his sermon, Most Rev. Olusola Ajayi urged the congregation to contemplate life’s transient nature and prioritize virtuous living. Omotosho’s legacy, characterized by selfless service and integrity, serves as a poignant reminder of humanity’s potential for impact and accountability.

Among the dignitaries present were Ekiti State Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, Speaker Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, and a host of serving and former political officeholders, reflecting the profound respect and admiration for Barrister Omotosho’s enduring legacy.
