Highlighting the administration’s commitment to efficient service delivery, the Cross River State Government has prioritized addressing traffic congestion by renovating bus stops in the state capital. Led by Barrister Ekpenyong Akiba, Special Adviser to Governor Bassey Otu on General Duties, a delegation assessed the condition of bus stop facilities, emphasizing the need for reorganization and remapping of transportation routes.

Akiba’s assessment revealed challenges such as vandalism and improper placement of bus stops, exacerbated during the ENDSARS protests. Aligning with Governor Otu’s directive for traffic-free streets, the initiative aims to ensure smooth traffic flow, with over 20 bus stops already rehabilitated and more under construction.

The government is also focusing on public education and driver training to promote compliance with traffic regulations, underscoring its dedication to inclusive governance. Akiba highlighted the positive response from stakeholders and reinforced the administration’s commitment to revitalizing infrastructure under the PEOPLE-FIRST agenda. With enforcement measures in place, the government aims for full compliance and significant improvements within the next few months, garnering praise for its citizen-centric approach to governance.
