Governor Abiodun Promises Increased Support for Armed Forces Welfare, Addresses Security Challenges

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritize the welfare of serving and retired personnel of the Armed Forces. During the launch of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance emblem in Abeokuta, the governor pledged N10 million to support the Legionnaires and emphasized the importance of care and support for families of fallen heroes.

Expressing gratitude to the Nigerian Armed Forces for their unwavering commitment and selflessness in safeguarding the nation’s peace and unity, Governor Abiodun highlighted the need for continued assistance and care for the families of fallen heroes, ensuring they receive necessary support and opportunities for fulfilling lives.

Governor Abiodun assured that his administration would address the accommodation needs of the Legion, promising to provide a suitable structure for them. He emphasized the obligation to ensure the seamless transition of personnel to civilian life by prioritizing their welfare and well-being.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by the armed forces in tackling security issues, the governor affirmed his commitment to collaborating with the Armed Forces to address various security challenges in the state. He pledged continuous support and provision of necessary resources to enable the armed forces to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently.

Master Warrant Officer Orukotan Olumuyiwa (rtd), the state Chairman of the Nigeria Legion, highlighted the increased number of widows and orphans in need of care due to security challenges. He commended the state government’s efforts in economic development and urged concerted efforts to alleviate the hardship faced by the families of fallen heroes.

Governor Abiodun’s vow to enhance support for the welfare of armed forces and address security challenges reaffirms the commitment of the Ogun State Government to honor the sacrifices made by the nation’s defenders and their families.
