In the wake of recent tragic events in Wa-ndor, Mbaikyor, of Mbalom Council Ward, Gwer East Local Government, Governor Hyacinth Alia expresses regret if any section of the Masev community feels hurt by official statements. The Governor acknowledges the perennial attacks from herders over the years, emphasizing the collective efforts to ensure safety in the region.
As the Chief Security Officer, Governor Alia works closely with communities and security organizations, receiving regular security intelligence briefings. He clarifies that referring to criminal elements involved in recent crises does not label the entire Masev people as cattle rustlers, and his administration is dedicated to ensuring law and order prevail.
The enforcement of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law 2017 remains a priority, with security agencies actively working to apprehend perpetrators of heinous crimes. Despite challenges, Governor Alia’s resolve remains firm in ensuring a safe and secure environment for all residents of Benue State.
