Governor Bago Reports Increased Agricultural Activity and Security in Niger State
Governor Umar Bago of Niger State declared a positive shift in agricultural activities, indicating a resurgence of farmers returning to their fields within the state. Expressing farmers’ eagerness to resume farming, Bago revealed that many have already recommenced their agricultural pursuits.
Bago revealed his commitment to spearheading the President’s plan of cultivating 500,000 hectares of agricultural land, as announced by President Bola Tinubu in his New Year message. Following a meeting with President Tinubu in Abuja, Bago affirmed Niger State’s leading role in the president’s food security initiative, having initiated the implementation of 250,000 hectares for dry season farming.
Updating the President on the progress, Bago highlighted the state’s agreements with various companies for off-take arrangements, demonstrating proactive steps taken in agricultural development. He expressed readiness to align with the Federal Government’s ambition to match the 500,000-hectare target.
Governor Bago commended President Tinubu’s enthusiasm for the state’s agricultural advancements, emphasizing the positive reception from the President regarding Niger State’s endeavors to boost agricultural productivity and enhance food security.
