0

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State is driving a transformative agricultural agenda aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on food security, economic growth, and poverty reduction.

Through strategic investments such as the completion of the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport, Governor Buni has positioned Yobe as a hub for exporting agricultural produce and processed goods. The state’s vast arable land supports crops like sesame, rice, and gum Arabic, while its pastoral farming sector offers significant opportunities for meat and leather exports.

This year alone, over N15 billion has been invested in agricultural inputs and equipment, benefiting 5,300 farmers across 17 local governments. Additionally, the training of 178 extension workers under the ACReSAL project has improved the dissemination of agricultural innovations.

Governor Buni’s efforts in boosting productivity, providing access to hybrid seeds, and connecting farmers to global markets have earned accolades from stakeholders, including the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN). These initiatives position Yobe as a key player in achieving Nigeria’s economic diversification goals.
