Governor Buni Grants Amnesty to 33 Inmates in Yobe State Ahead of Ramadan
As part of Ramadan festivities, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has granted amnesty to 33 inmates across various correctional centers in the state. The decision, announced by Alhassan Sule Mamudo, Information Officer of the Yobe State Ministry of Justice, follows recommendations from the Yobe State Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy.
Led by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Saleh Samanja, the Advisory Council meticulously reviewed cases from correctional facilities in Potiskum, Nguru, and Gashu’a before presenting a list of deserving inmates for consideration by Governor Buni.
Expressing compassion and goodwill, Governor Buni approved the release of the selected inmates, enabling them to reunite with their families and communities. Additionally, in the spirit of Ramadan generosity, food palliatives were distributed to all correctional facilities, ensuring inmates partake in the blessings of the holy month.
The governor’s gesture exemplifies a commitment to justice, compassion, and inclusivity, fostering a sense of hope and reconciliation within the community.
