Governor Buni Urges Graduating Scholars in India to Uphold Integrity and Innovation
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has encouraged government-sponsored students graduating in India to carry forward the values of integrity, innovation, and inclusivity as they embark on their professional journeys. Governor Buni delivered this message during the graduation ceremony of 73 students in Radiology at Integral University, Lucknow, India.
Represented by the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Chiroma Buba Mashio, the Governor’s sentiments were relayed by his Senior Special Assistant on Digital and Strategic Communications, Yusuf Ali. Governor Buni highlighted that the graduation marks a significant milestone not only for the students but also for Yobe State, which has invested heavily in education through the Buni Foreign Scholarship Scheme.
The Governor noted that the scholarship scheme, initiated by his administration, has enabled 371 students from Yobe to study across 16 countries, focusing on fields that address the manpower and skill needs of the state. He praised the dedication of the university’s management in providing quality education and emphasized that the positive feedback from students, parents, and the scholarship board reinforces his belief in the long-term benefits of this investment.
Dr. Kagu Abubakar, Executive Secretary of the Yobe Scholarship Board, explained that the Buni Foreign Scholarship Scheme, launched in 2020 under the Recovery Through Education and Scholarships (RETES) framework, has sponsored 233 students from all 17 Local Government Areas of Yobe to study various courses in India. He added that in June 2024, 191 students graduated in fields including Pharmacy, Radiology, Optometry, Nursing, and Engineering, among others.
