Governor Idris Commends Military’s Dedication in Restoring Peace in Kebbi
Governor Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has lauded the Nigerian military for their steadfast efforts in combating banditry, particularly in the southern part of the state.
During a courtesy visit from Brigadier General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose, General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander Joint Task Force, NorthWest Operation Hadarin Daji, Governor Idris expressed profound appreciation for the military’s resilience and determination. He highlighted their role in swiftly restoring peace to previously troubled areas.
Governor Idris recalled the dire situation upon assuming office, with farmers abandoning their lands and residents fleeing their homes due to insecurity. “With the doggedness of the military and other security agencies, we were able to restore peace not only in the southern part but in Kebbi as a whole,” he noted.
He expressed his satisfaction with the return of peace, allowing farmers to resume their activities. “Last year, we had a very good bumper harvest, and this year, we will continue to support our security to maintain peace in those areas,” the Governor added.
Governor Idris reiterated the Kebbi State Government’s readiness to support the military in their ongoing fight against banditry. Brigadier General Ajose, in turn, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s support, including the provision of patrol vehicles and medical assistance for soldiers. He also commended the Governor’s developmental projects in the state.
