Governor Namadi Demands Timely Completion of 360km Road Projects by May 29
Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has issued a directive to construction firms to ensure the completion of 360 kilometers of road projects before May 29, Democracy Day. This order came during an unscheduled visit to 26 ongoing road projects across the state, emphasizing the need for timely completion before the rainy season to benefit the public.
Governor Namadi underscored his administration’s commitment to maintaining high standards and adhering to contractual agreements. He assured the contractors that the government would continue to patronize companies that demonstrate seriousness and sincerity in their work.
“We are committed to ensuring adherence to the contractual agreement, with timely payments from the government. We will not tolerate any breach of agreement, especially concerning quality and timely completion as per specifications,” said the governor.
The inspected projects primarily involve the rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads and bridges damaged by flooding over the past two years. Governor Namadi reassured the people of Jigawa State that his government would ensure the completion of all ongoing road projects and initiate new ones to facilitate the movement of goods and services, thereby promoting social and economic development.
The Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engineer Gambo S. Malam, highlighted that the road projects cover a total distance of 360 kilometers, including the rebuilding of collapsed bridges and the construction of new ones. He noted that measures are being taken to prevent future flood damage.
Contractors across the 27 local government areas assured the governor of their commitment to delivering quality work within the stipulated timeframe.
