Governor Namadi Welcomes House of Representatives Committee on TETFUND, Emphasizes Education as a Priority

Governor Mallam Umar Namadi received members of the House of Representatives Committee on Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) on Wednesday, led by the committee chair, Hon. Princess Miriam Odunaka Onuaha, at the Government House. The committee’s visit was part of their nationwide sensitization tour on the funding of both federal and state-owned tertiary institutions.

Hon. Onuaha commended Governor Namadi for his pragmatic and proactive leadership in Jigawa State, noting the state’s exemplary use of TETFUND resources. She expressed concerns over unutilized funds for educational projects lying dormant in the Central Bank and praised Jigawa for being a leader in accessing TETFUND funding.

In response, Governor Namadi applauded the committee’s patriotic efforts to ensure that all allocated funds for tertiary institutions are effectively utilized. He emphasized the critical role of education in reducing poverty and insecurity in the country. Highlighting his administration’s commitment to education, Governor Namadi pointed out that the education sector received 32% of the state’s first budget, surpassing the UNESCO benchmark.

Governor Namadi’s administration continues to prioritize education and healthcare, reinforcing his vision for a prosperous and well-developed Jigawa State.
