Governor Nasir Idris Honors Fallen Heroes with N20 Million Donation
In a heartfelt gesture, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State announced a generous N20 million donation to the State chapter of the Nigerian Legion during the launch of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration in Birnin Kebbi. Represented by Deputy Governor Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, Governor Nasir Idris expressed deep respect for fallen heroes and praised the dedication of military personnel combating insurgency and criminality. The governor assured continued support for the legion, including the allocation of Hajj seats and addressing the need for a Secretariat.
Highlighting the commitment to ex-servicemen’s welfare, Governor Idris emphasized their inclusion in the state’s security architecture. He also acknowledged the contribution of a retired military officer as the Special Adviser on Security to the Government. The Governor’s benevolence extends to assisting with land allocation for the legion’s headquarters and addressing their concerns.
Commending the Governor’s fatherly care, the Chairman of the Kebbi chapter of the Nigerian Legion, Retired Sergeant Garba Hassan Suru, affirmed the legion’s support for Governor Nasir Idris. The occasion included symbolic donations, with the State Government contributing N20 million, Commissioners offering N1 million, and similar amounts from all 21 local government chairmen. The Deputy Governor was decorated with an appeal emblem, marking the commencement of the Armed Forces Remembrance celebration.
