Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has appealed to the federal government for assistance in addressing the dual challenges of insecurity and recurring flooding plaguing parts of the state. The plea was made during a meeting with a delegation from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) at the Government House in Lokoja.

Highlighting Kogi’s strategic position as a transit state bordering ten others, Governor Ododo underscored the urgent need for enhanced financial intervention to combat the twin threats of insecurity and flooding. He emphasized the potential spillover effects on neighboring states if these issues are not effectively addressed.

Governor Ododo specifically called for increased funding from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, particularly through the Stabilization Fund, to tackle emerging challenges in the state. He stressed the importance of proactive measures to mitigate the impact of these crises on the populace.

In response, Mr. Bako Ibrahim Shettima, the leader of the RMAFC delegation, assured Governor Ododo that the commission would evaluate the state’s request for additional support. He affirmed the commission’s commitment to addressing the pressing needs identified by the Kogi State government.

Subsequently, the RMAFC delegation joined Governor Ododo on a tour of ongoing infrastructure projects in the state, including road construction and refurbishment initiatives, underscoring the collaborative efforts to drive development and improve the welfare of Kogi residents.
