Governor Otu Encourages Judicial Integrity and Cooperation
Governor Bassey Otu urged newly appointed High Court Judges to restore faith in the judiciary during their swearing-in ceremony. Emphasizing the importance of judicial expertise and the need for a self-reinventing judiciary, Otu called for maintaining the public’s trust. Acknowledging the judges’ hard work and legal expertise, he highlighted their embodiment of qualities like hard work, sincerity, and integrity. Otu lauded the harmonious relationship between the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary, contributing to the state’s accelerated growth. He urged judges to assist in decongesting Correctional Centres through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Stressing the significance of impartiality and adherence to the rule of law, the State Chief Judge advised the new judges on discharging their duties diligently. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, marking a significant step towards judicial integrity and cooperation.
