Governor Otu’s Pledge to Ensure Inclusive Appointments and Strong Northern Representation in Cross River State
Cross River State Governor, Sen. Bassey Edet Otu, has reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, promising the people of Cross River Northern Senatorial District a sense of belonging and active participation in state affairs. During a meeting with the Cross River Northern APC Elders Advisory Council in Calabar on October 9, 2023, the Governor assured the community that his upcoming appointments would strike a balance, ensuring equitable representation.
Governor Otu expressed his appreciation for the North’s support and emphasized its essential role in Cross River State’s political landscape. He also reiterated his dedication to finishing the Obudu Cargo Airport project initiated by his predecessor, Prof. Ben Ayade, and revitalizing the Ranch Resort as a premier tourist destination in Nigeria. Additionally, he pledged to construct a Governor’s Lodge in Ogoja to enhance government presence in the Northern Senatorial District, considering the state’s unique geography.
The Governor commended the quality of appointees from the North, highlighting the invaluable support of his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, and other competent allies working diligently to advance the “Peoples First” agenda, which aims to bring governance closer to the ordinary citizens of the state. Governor Otu expressed optimism about the state’s future, stating confidently, “we are definitely going somewhere.”
Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo, Chairman of the North APC Elders Advisory Council, emphasized the group’s unwavering support for Governor Otu and congratulated him on his tribunal victory during their visit, expressing solidarity with his administration.
