Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, unveiled a remarkable initiative aimed at providing relief to victims of banditry and COVID-19 in the state, with an allocation exceeding N470 million. In collaboration with the International Donor Agency and R.H. Equipt, this effort strives to alleviate the economic strains resulting from these crises.

During a heartening ceremony at the Kabir Aliyu Maska Hall, Governor Radda announced the distribution of funds, with 550 victims of armed banditry receiving N150,000 each, totaling N82.5 million. Additionally, N387.6 million was disbursed to 3,876 COVID-19 victims, each receiving N100,000. This compassionate initiative, fulfilling a pledge made during the January 2023 BBC Governorship debate, aims to empower those affected, particularly women and girls.

Acknowledging the collaborative efforts, Governor Radda commended the Katsina State Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, as well as the State’s House of Assembly, for their pivotal role in selecting and training beneficiaries. The Commissioner of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development expressed gratitude to the Governor and R.H. EQUIPT for their unwavering support.

Professor Muhammad Yusuf Dandume, representing R.H. EQUIPT, echoed a commitment to continued collaboration with the Katsina State Government, underscoring their dedication to the program’s success.
