Governor Sani Warns Kaduna Residents Against Participating in #EndBadGovernance Protest
Governor Uba Sani has cautioned Kaduna residents against joining the #EndBadGovernance protest set to begin on Thursday. At a town hall meeting with key stakeholders on Monday in Kaduna, Mr. Sani reiterated his administration’s dedication to the welfare and security of citizens, voicing concerns about “faceless” groups planning the protest under the pretext of demanding good governance.
Acknowledging the economic hardships caused by years of mismanagement and corruption, the governor emphasized that President Bola Tinubu is working to revive the economy with policies aimed at sustainable growth, though some may cause temporary discomfort.
Governor Sani highlighted the government’s efforts to rebuild trust, enhance security, and implement pro-poor policies. He called the planned protests unnecessary and ill-timed, reminding that past protests in the state often led to violence and destruction. He urged stakeholders to prioritize stability and progress, advising against actions that could trigger unrest.
The Emir of Zazzau, Ahmad Bamali, representing the traditional institution, appealed for patience and urged communities to refrain from protesting. Representatives from religious organizations, Ahmad Gumi and Joseph Hayab, also advised their followers to avoid protests organized by unidentified groups, expressing concerns about potential hijacking by malicious actors.
The TUC and NLC chairmen in Kaduna, Abdullahi Danfulani and Ayuba Suleiman, respectively, stated that they would not participate in any protest, as they had not received directives from their national bodies. Dayyabu Maigonjo, representing the Kaduna market community, warned that protests could lead to looting and destruction of facilities in the state.
