Governor Sanwo-Olu Acknowledges Women’s Role in Lagos Progress
On October 20, 2023, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, highlighted the intrinsic link between the progress of Lagos State and the empowerment and participation of its women. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2023 National Women’s Conference organized by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), Governor Sanwo-Olu praised women’s essential contributions to the state’s foundation.
“It is not a question of if women should have a seat at the table; it is recognizing that they have always been essential to its foundation,” stated the governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin. He urged the conference participants to embrace empowerment and the belief in their boundless potential, whether as professionals, businesswomen, mothers, or leaders.
Governor Sanwo-Olu encouraged attendees to leave the conference with a commitment to unleash their potential and serve as catalysts for the positive change needed by Lagos State and Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of working together, irrespective of gender, to create a brighter and more equitable future for all.
Earlier, the Chairman of COWLSO, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, noted that this year’s conference, held at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites from October 17 to 19, featured top-notch presentations and in-depth analysis from brilliant minds and industry experts.
