Governor Sanwo-Olu Condemns Divisive Rhetoric, Urges Justice for Promoters of “Igbo-Must-Go” Campaign
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has firmly condemned a recent social media post by LagosPedia, a handle on X (formerly Twitter), that called for the eviction of the Igbo community from Lagos and the Southwest region of Nigeria. The Governor distanced both the Lagos State Government and the people of Lagos from this divisive rhetoric, affirming that Lagos remains a welcoming home for all Nigerians, regardless of their ethnic background.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the post as reckless and a dangerous attempt to create discord among ethnic groups in the state. He called on Lagosians to reject such inflammatory messages and urged the police and other security agencies to investigate the individuals behind the post, ensuring they are brought to justice.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reassured residents of his commitment to maintaining peace and harmony in Lagos, promising to intensify efforts towards fostering unity and security. He appealed to all Lagosians to remain calm and continue to support the state’s initiatives to ensure lasting peace for all its inhabitants.
