Governor Sanwo-Olu’s Vision: Alimosho Model City Plan Aims for Sustainable Transformation

Efforts to transform Alimosho into a sustainable and functional city have taken a significant leap forward with the unveiling of the revised Alimosho Model City Plan. Spearheaded by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration, this visionary plan outlines strategies for efficient land use, enhanced connectivity, and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, emphasized the importance of this initiative during a stakeholders meeting. He highlighted the commitment to realizing the vision of Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy, as outlined in the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda.
Under Governor Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development has undergone restructuring to provide added impetus to these efforts. The creation of specialized offices underscores the commitment to achieving a livable, organized, and sustainable built environment across Lagos State.
The plan’s comprehensive approach includes provisions for improved housing, enhanced public transportation, and the identification of 13 Action Areas for targeted planning policies. Stakeholders, including government officials, traditional leaders, and community representatives, have rallied behind this initiative, recognizing its potential to create employment, foster inclusive growth, and enhance quality of life.
