Governor Umar Bago Advocates Modern Technology for Effective Policing
Niger State Governor, Umar Bago, has emphasized the need for the Nigerian Police to deploy modern technologies, particularly Information and Communication Technology (ICT), to enhance effective policing in the country. Governor Bago made this call while meeting with the Niger State Screening Team for the ongoing recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Police Force in the state.
Expressing concern about the high level of insecurity in the country, Governor Bago believes that incorporating ICT into police operations will aid in combating the menace and bring the force on par with international standards. Additionally, he suggested the engagement of more plain-clothes police personnel for improved intelligence gathering and public collaboration.
Governor Bago commended the ongoing screening exercise and recommended that successful candidates be posted to their communities for 5 to 10 years, facilitating a smoother transition to state policing. He urged the Screening Team not to compromise the recruitment process but to ensure the selection of qualified and genuine Nigerians.
