Governor Zulum Pursues Collaboration with Federal Government to Boost Borno’s Irrigation
Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State visited the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utsev, in Abuja on Monday, seeking partnership to enhance irrigation capabilities in the state.
Acknowledging the impact of insurgency on agriculture, Governor Zulum emphasized the importance of reviving irrigation activities to ensure food security. He proposed exploring research initiatives to replenish Lake Chad through internal water sources within the country.
In response, the federal government expressed its readiness to collaborate with Borno State to bolster agricultural production and mitigate food insecurity.
The meeting, attended by key officials including the Honorable Minister of State for Water Resources and the Borno State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, signifies a proactive step towards addressing agricultural challenges in the region.
