1. Ekiti State Invests in Urban Renewal: N300 Million Approved for Atikankan/Igbeyin Project Compensation

In a move to revitalize the Atikankan/Igbeyin area of Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Executive Council approves the disbursement of N300 million as compensation for the proposed Urban Renewal project. The initiative, aimed at transforming the Central Business District into a thriving economic hub, reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing Ado-Ekiti. The compensation, meticulously calculated based on a comprehensive valuation process, will be disbursed directly to claimants by the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

2. Ekiti State Mitigates Flood Risk: N88.35 Million Approved for Dredging

Responding to the threat of flooding, the Ekiti State Executive Council allocates N88,351,351.35 to continue dredging efforts in Ado, Ikere, and Ekiti South-West Local Government Areas. The proactive measure, initiated in January 2023, aims to safeguard lives and property from the devastating effects of flooding. Despite inflationary challenges, the government remains steadfast in its commitment to completing the project within three months through direct labor, ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens.

3. Enhancing Market Infrastructure: N264.3 Million Approved for Agric Olope and Oja Oba Projects

In a bid to enhance commercial activities and infrastructure, the Ekiti State Government allocates N264,317,561.24 for additional works on the Agric Olope and Oja Oba markets. These renovations align with the administration’s Six-Pillar Agenda, emphasizing economic development and market modernization. The scope of work includes construction of car parks, culverts, and provision of essential amenities to foster a conducive environment for traders and shoppers. Through direct labor, the government remains committed to delivering these projects efficiently and effectively.

4. Strengthening Procurement Practices: Amendment of State Procurement Law Approved

Recognizing the need for streamlined procurement processes, the Ekiti State Executive Council approves amendments to the State Procurement Law, particularly regarding the application of the Direct Labour Method. The revisions, aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency, raise procurement thresholds for goods, services, and works. A dedicated committee, chaired by the Commissioner for Finance, will oversee the implementation of these amendments, ensuring adherence to best practices and prudent financial management.

5. Ensuring Accountability: Committee Formed for Project Monitoring

To ensure transparency and accountability in project execution, the Ekiti State Executive Council constitutes a five-man committee tasked with monitoring government projects across the state. Comprising key stakeholders and experts, the committee will oversee project implementation and provide regular reports to the council. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to efficient resource utilization and delivery of quality infrastructure for the benefit of all citizens.
