Hunger: Sokoto Govt Receives 60 Trucks of FG’s Fertilizer Donations
The Sokoto State Government has launched a N4.7 billion fertilizer distribution initiative to enhance farming across its 23 local government areas. Governor Ahmed Aliyu announced the distribution, applauding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing 60 trucks of fertilizer to support agricultural activities.
The governor also revealed plans to invest N10 billion in reviving irrigation sites, including the rehabilitation of Lugu Dam, to boost rice production. The distribution efforts aim to improve agricultural output and create job opportunities for youths, with 195 farmer community associations benefiting from free fertilizer under the Fadama N-CARES program.
Additionally, youth and women groups will receive essential farming equipment, such as water pumps and threshers, to promote self-reliance and economic growth. Governor Aliyu called on residents to seize these agricultural opportunities, reinforcing the state’s commitment to becoming a leader in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
