0

In a significant policy adjustment, the Imo State Government has announced the immediate suspension of service extension approvals for all categories of civil servants, including Directors and Permanent Secretaries. This decision is aimed at addressing labor concerns and fostering career progression within the civil service.

The statement, issued by the Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Chief Cosmas Iwu, underscores the importance of adherence to existing laws governing civil service retirement. Civil servants approaching retirement age are urged to comply with regulations and exit the service as per their retirement dates.

The government also issued a stern warning, indicating that civil servants who exceed their retirement age and continue in service will be required to reimburse any salaries or allowances received during the period of overstaying. This directive, effective immediately, is intended to ensure a seamless transition and maintain the integrity of the civil service structure.
