In a positive development for healthcare in Cross River State, Mr. Augustine Okutu, a community health officer, has revealed a surge in demand for vaccines and medical consumables, particularly in the northern regions. This heightened demand is attributed to the accessibility and affordability of vaccines delivered by drones to remote communities.

Speaking during an interview, Okutu emphasized the effectiveness of drone technology in streamlining healthcare provision, stating that it has significantly reduced costs and eliminated concerns regarding the authenticity of medical supplies. He noted that the community perceives items delivered by drones as trustworthy, thus mitigating the risk of counterfeit or expired drugs.

Echoing Okutu’s sentiments, Mr. Raphael Obok, a health expert, hailed the convenience and reliability of drone deliveries, describing them as a fulfillment of primary healthcare parameters, including affordability, availability, and accessibility. This innovative approach underscores Cross River’s commitment to enhancing healthcare access and quality.

Commending the technological innovation, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Ayuk, emphasized its positive impact on healthcare delivery, affirming the government’s dedication to advancing healthcare infrastructure and services across the state.
