Jigawa: Governor Namadi Strengthens Malaria Fight for Pregnant Women and Children
Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has reaffirmed his dedication to combating malaria among pregnant women and children. During the launch of a campaign distributing 3.2million Insecticide Treated Mosquito Nets (ITNs) by the Global Fund, Namadi emphasized the disease’s significant impact on public health.
He highlighted recent efforts, including increasing health budgets, upgrading hospitals, employing
1,000 health workers, and introducing health insurance for vulnerable groups.
Namadi praised the partnership with Global Fund and stressed the importance of
sustainable government health initiatives.
Dr. Jim Thomas, head of Global Fund Nigeria, stated the campaign aims to benefit 3.2 million
individuals in all 23 local government areas, focusing on reducing malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV.
